    Will walking on my roof damage shingles?

    Done properly, no. Crews wear soft-soled shoes, distribute weight carefully, and avoid stepping on shingle edges where damage starts. Wet roofs are more slippery and more delicate, so they’re treated with extra care. The goal is to leave the surface exactly as we found it.

    Are zinc strips effective?

    Zinc strips do work, but only where the runoff reaches. They significantly slow growth on the shingles directly below them, especially on asphalt roofs. Sections the rainwater bypasses, like areas above the strips or out of the drainage path, see little benefit.

    Are there safe DIY products?

    A safe label doesn’t make the job safe. Even a gentle hardware-store cleaner only works with the right dilution and dwell time, and applying it still means climbing onto a roof. That climb, not the chemistry, is where most DIY injuries actually happen.

    Can you clean my roof if my driveway is being repaved?

    Yes, though it takes a little coordination. Roof cleaning is outdoor work, so it can run alongside other contractors on site, and we will sometimes adjust the schedule to work around the paving crew so neither job interferes with the other or the fresh surface.

    How long does the chemistry sit on the roof?

    The chemistry typically dwells on the roof for 10 to 30 minutes, with the exact time depending on the solution concentration and how heavy the contamination is. That window lets the soft-wash solution penetrate into the algae and moss roots so it kills the growth, not just the surface.

    Will the results be immediate?

    Results are partly immediate. Algae and moss visibly improve right after the rinse, so the roof looks noticeably cleaner the same day. The full kill that prevents regrowth, however, takes 7 to 14 days as the chemistry finishes working through the remaining growth.
