We’re excited to introduce Justin Collier as the newest addition to our Gorilla family. As the newest member of the team, he will be dedicated to taking care of residential and commercial properties within Gorilla’s territory in Muskoka, Ontario.
Q: What made you want to own a franchise, specifically a Gorilla franchise?
I spent years working as an industrial electrician in a windowless factory six days a week, long hours, and very little flexibility. While I enjoyed the work itself, I reached a point where I wanted more control over my future. I wanted the freedom to build something meaningful, to be there for my family, and to know that my hard work directly contributed to our success.
Owning a franchise felt like the perfect way to take that next step. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset, but I also value having a solid foundation to build from. Gorilla Property Services stood out because of its strong brand, proven systems, and incredible team culture. After speaking with the Gorilla support team, it was clear that this wasn’t just a company it’s a family that truly supports one another. That sense of community and professionalism made it an easy decision.
Q: Why now? What influenced you to make this decision?
The timing just felt right. After years of working for someone else, I was ready to take ownership of my time and my future. I wanted to create something that would allow me to be more present for my family while building a business rooted in my local community. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and I knew if I didn’t go for it now, I’d always wonder “what if?”
Q: In your opinion, what are the benefits of joining a franchise system?
Joining a franchise gives you the best of both worlds independence with structure. You get to be your own boss, but you’re not starting from scratch. Gorilla provides top-notch training, proven systems, marketing support, and a network of other owners who are always willing to share advice and experience. That kind of support makes all the difference, especially when you’re starting out. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process and lets you focus on growing your business and serving your community.
Q: Tell us about your territory, what do you think makes it unique?
Muskoka is one of the most beautiful regions in Ontario known for its lakes, cottages, and small-town charm. It’s a unique mix of long-time residents who take pride in their homes and high-end cottage owners who trust local professionals to maintain their properties while they’re away. We get to serve everyone from retirees to seasonal residents, and no two days are the same. What makes Muskoka truly special is the sense of community people value relationships, quality work, and trust, which aligns perfectly with what Gorilla stands for.
Q: What do you expect about being a business/franchise owner?
I know it will come with challenges, but I’m excited for all of it building relationships, growing a team, and making a real impact in my community. I’m proud to represent the Gorilla brand here in Muskoka and look forward to becoming a trusted name in property services across the region. My goal is to grow a business that supports local jobs, helps homeowners, and becomes something my family and community can be proud of.
