    Graffiti Removal — answered

    How quickly should graffiti be removed?

    In Quebec, as fast as possible. Studies consistently show that visible graffiti attracts more graffiti, and aged tags become harder to remove as paint cures into the substrate. Most properties target 24–48 hour response, with same-day service available for commercial sites.

    Can all paint be fully removed?

    In most cases yes, but the method depends on the substrate. Quebec’s typical surfaces vary — smooth painted walls, glass, and metal usually clean to invisible. Brick, concrete, and porous stone may show a “ghost” image after removal. Full restoration on porous substrates often requires repainting or sealing.

    Will removal damage the surface underneath?

    Properly applied, no. Crews match the chemistry and method to the substrate. Aggressive solvents that work on metal would strip painted wood; gentle methods that work on glass won’t touch cured aerosol on brick. Substrate identification is the first step of any graffiti job.

    Are the removal products eco-safe?

    Biodegradable graffiti-removal products are the default for residential and most commercial properties. Industrial solvents are used only where biodegradable products can’t handle the paint chemistry, with neutralization rinses afterward. MSDS documentation available on request.

    Are crews insured for property work?

    Yes — liability insurance and WCB certificates available on request. Graffiti removal involves chemistry that can damage adjacent surfaces if mishandled, so insurance isn’t optional. Any contractor should produce certificates same-day.

    Do you work with city graffiti-removal programs?

    Yes — many municipalities, including Quebec, have free or subsidized removal programs for visible public-facing graffiti. Where those exist, we coordinate with city programs. For private property tagging, individual property-owner billing applies.

    How is severe spray-paint different from marker or sticker tags?

    Aerosol paint penetrates porous substrates deeper than markers and needs solvent-based removal. Markers usually wipe with gentle solvents. Sticker residue needs heat or specialized adhesive removers. Substrate type also matters — brick vs. glass vs. metal all need different approaches.

    Can I attempt removal myself?

    On glass or metal, sometimes — with patience and the right product. On brick, painted wood, or porous stone, DIY usually drives the paint deeper or damages the substrate. Single-incident removal on a tough surface often costs less than the materials and time of a failed DIY attempt.

    How long does a typical removal take?

    A single tag on smooth substrate: 15–30 minutes. Large multi-colour pieces on brick or porous stone: an hour or more. Pressure-washing required for ghost-image cleanup adds time. Quote is provided after on-site inspection.
